Terracotta Army

The mausoleum of the first emperor Qin is the most important archaeological site in China.

It is located near Xi'an, in the Shaanxi province, and consists of a large funeral complex designed like the imperial capital of Xianyang, with an "inner city" occupying an area of 2.5 km, and an "outer city" , occupying an area of 6.3 km. The works for its realization lasted from 246 BC. at 208 a.C.

The burial chamber of Qin Shi Huang (260 BC-210 BC), not yet unearthed, would be so deep as to cross three levels of aquifers, with bronze walls and surrounded by rivers of cinnabar, ie mercury sulfide which, for Taoist philosophy would be an energetic activator for immortality.
