Arezzo


Arezzo is an Italian town that is the capital of the province of the same name in Tuscany.

It is a splendid city in the heart of Tuscany, rich in history and tradition and a perfect destination for tourists and travelers who are looking for cities of great artistic and cultural importance. Visit Arezzo during the city of Christmas and combine fun and culture.

Known throughout the world as the City of Gold, of the Giostra del Saracino and of Guido Monaco, inventor of musical notation, it was the seat of the oldest university in Tuscany, and one of the first in Europe.

It is an Italian city in eastern Tuscany. The Cathedral of Arezzo, on the top of the hill where the city stands, has vaulted painted ceilings and houses a 15th-century fresco by Piero della Francesca depicting Mary Magdalene.

In the chapel of the nearby Basilica of San Francesco there are other frescoes by Piero della Francesca. The Basilica of San Domenico houses the Crucifix of Santa Croce, painted by Cimabue in the thirteenth century. The imposing Medici Fortress offers a splendid view over the city.

The city of Arezzo developed in the Etruscan era, surrounded by walls in the Roman period. In the Middle Ages it was involved in the wars between Tuscan cities.
