Monreale

Monreale (Murriali or Muntriali in Sicilian) is an Italian town in the metropolitan city of Palermo in Sicily.

It is the twenty-first most populous city in Sicily and is part of the metropolitan area of Palermo.

5 km south from the capital, with which it forms a single urban agglomeration, with its 529 km² it is the sixth municipality in Italy by territorial extension, after Rome, Ravenna, Cerignola, Noto and Sassari, as well as the second Italian municipality, after Rome, for the number of neighboring municipalities (as many as 23).

The city is the seat of the archbishop. The Arab-Norman Palermo site and the cathedrals of Cefalù and Monreale in 2015 were declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco.
