Mancinelli Theater

Prose, dance and concerts in a neoclassical structure with a hall with decorated boxes and a frescoed ceiling.

To all those who, appreciating the Mancinelli Theater (Corso Cavour 122) as a venue for theatrical programming, are also eager to know its historical and artistic profile. Already favorably appreciated in the past tourist seasons, VISITA A TEATRO, which has now taken on the role of a real project by becoming part of the cultural initiatives presented by the TEMA Association, aims to insert the architectural structure in a circuit that further enriches the already a wide range of monuments in the historic center of Orvieto, thus helping to enhance its cultural heritage.

After admiring the elegant neoclassical façade, visitors can venture inside, passing by the Caffè Teatro Degusteria and then through the hall full of paintings. Entering the stalls you can admire not only the 4 orders of finely decorated boxes, but also the wonderful Dance of the Hours by Cesare Fracassini on the ceiling, the 3 muses of the harmonic arch and their respective symbols, the orchestra pit, the large and functional stage and the famous historical curtain (also by Fracassini) "Belisario frees the city of Orvieto from the siege of the Goths". On the curtain - called "historical" due to the subject it represents, that is an episode taken from Procopio di Cesarea's De Bello Gothico which took place in 535 AD. - Belisarius is represented with his Byzantine army freeing Orvieto from the siege of the Goths.

Visitors will be able to continue to appreciate Mancinelli's wonderful works of art by going up to the third order, home to the elegant foyer, decorated with grotesques that recall the classical Renaissance world, today used for civil weddings, conferences, meetings and more.

It is possible to visit the theater from Monday to Saturday, from 8.00 to 15.00.
