MAM'S - Palazzo degli Scalzi

Home of the museum related to the Salvi Prize and exhibition space.

On April 6, 2014, the Museum "Mondo arte Marche Sassoferrato" (MAM'S) was inaugurated in the 17th-century Palazzo degli Scalzi in Sassoferrato, created from the collection of about 4,000 works by Italian and foreign artists (including Merz, Rotella, Schifano, Castellani, Vedova, Capogrossi, Jean Fautrier, Anton Zoran Music and Graham Sutherland) collected by the Review from after World War II to the present.

This is what is considered the largest collection of works from the second half of the twentieth century in existence in the Marche region.

The museum also displays all the historical documentation related to the birth and evolution over the years of the "G. B. Salvi International Art Review," including the catalogs of each of the 63 editions, which can also be consulted online in the digital version.

The exhibition began in 1951 as the "G.B. Salvi Painting Prize" on the initiative of a group of citizens, with the aim of honoring Salvi's memory and fostering the continuation of the local painting tradition.

Started as a local exhibition, it soon assumed national fame, quickly becoming an important point of reference for many artists and critics.

In 2000, the 50th anniversary of the exhibition was celebrated with the exhibitions "Intimate Miró" and "Picasso: Collectors' Pottery."
