Rosselli del Turco Palace

Palazzo Rosselli del Turco is an important Florentine palace in Oltrarno where the Karl Stengel collection and Studio Abba are based.

The majestic facade is in the typical style of the sober Florentine "baroque", characterized by a light plaster on which the elements in pietra serena stand out: the two rows of arched windows framed on the first and second floors, the string courses, the rectangular windows on the ground floor and the portal. In the center stands a noble coat of arms which is not however that of the Rosselli Del Turco.

The building was purchased in 1851 by Cav. Luca Rosselli Del Turco (1826-1882) on the occasion of his marriage to Countess Vittoria Sassatelli of Imola, the last of the main branch of this historic family: their descendants, who called themselves "Rosselli Del Turco - Sassatelli", owned this building until to 1922. The body of the building is arranged around a small internal courtyard, where there is a well, a fountain and some sculptural fragments.

A corridor leading to some partially underground rooms has nineteenth-century frescoes painted in medieval style.
