Pieve di San Giovanni Battista

The Pieve di San Giovanni Battista is a Romanesque-style construction from the first quarter of the 11th century, located outside the town, along the ancient road that led from Vespolate to Tornaco.

The church, which originally had three naves, equipped with a baptistery and surrounded by a cemetery, has been profoundly remodeled over the centuries. The semicircular apse externally preserves the original decoration with hanging arches in pairs.

The facade faces west while a small bell tower is located on the southern side, behind a small chapel-ossuary.

Inside there are precious artistic testimonies of Novara painting of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries.
