The Neolithic Village of S.Andrea is an open air museum.
In the archaeological area investigated, the perimeter channels, with a rectangular plan, of two of the six huts identified in recent years, and other structures that testify to the daily life of the village were consolidated using appropriate materials. The tour is accompanied by panels relating to the history of the site, the residential and functional structures, and in-depth information on the Italian and local Neolithic.
Since 2010, the full-scale reconstructions of some Neolithic buildings can be visited, set up with materials and objects that are copies of those actually found on the site, silhouettes of domesticated animals in the Neolithic era. Along the tour, shrubs and trees, of species attested in the Neolithic, contribute to the reconstruction of the ancient natural environment. The archaeological park of Travo was built by Sbap-pr after the expropriation of the area where it conducts archaeological excavations in the Neolithic site of S.Andrea.
The park was created thanks to joint funding from the Emilia Romagna Region, the Municipality of Travo, the European Community, the Piacenza Foundation and Vigevano.
Archeotravo organizes at the Archaeological Park of Travo, an evocative setting in the heart of the Trebbia valley, events and activities accessible to a heterogeneous public, aimed at promoting and enhancing the archaeological heritage preserved here.
The dissemination proposal has grown over the years and includes historical re-enactment events, demonstrations of experimental archeology, educational activities, cultural entertainment events. Theme days with workshops, festivals, guided tours, insights with experts, are designed and conducted to bring the public closer to the archaeological heritage trying to produce the lowest possible environmental impact. The recipients are groups, families, school groups, summer camps, operators in the sector, enthusiasts and occasional visitors.
