Castel Sant'Elia is a municipality in the province of Viterbo in Lazio.

In this era of chaos and instability, a fortress is built to defend against barbarian invasions.
The town becomes the property of the Abbey of San Benedetto di Pentoma, as shown in a document from 872; then of the Church.
