Former Florio factory - Favignana

The ex Former Florio Factory is an industrial complex located on the island of Favignana, in the Egadi Islands archipelago, in Sicily.

The building was constructed by the Florio family at the end of the 19th century and was used as a tuna canning factory.

In addition to being an important center for fish production, the ex Florio tuna factory was also a significant social and economic hub for the island of Favignana, as it employed much of the local population and contributed to the development of the tourism industry.

The ex Florio tuna factory was restored in the 1980s and now houses a museum that illustrates the history of the Florio family and the evolution of the tuna industry on the island of Favignana.

The complex is also used as an exhibition space and for cultural and social events.

The ex Florio tuna factory is one of the most representative sites of 19th-century industrial architecture in Sicily and is a highly appreciated tourist destination for its architectural beauty and its history.
