Palestrina is an Italian municipality in the metropolitan city of Rome Capital in Lazio, located along the Via Prenestina, to which it gave its name, as the current Palestrina stands on the ancient Praeneste, a Latin city famous in ancient times for the Sanctuary of Fortuna Primigenia, sanctuary dedicated to the goddess Fortuna Primigenia and which the most recent studies date to the last decades of the 2nd century BC.
