Civic Museums of Palazzo Farnese


Palazzo Farnese is a historic building in Piacenza.

Located in Piazza Cittadella, it houses the city's civic museums as well as the provincial headquarters of the State Archives.

Various collections are part of the civic museums housed inside the palace: a medieval section including a series of frescoes from Piacenza churches, the archaeological museum, housed in the Visconti citadel which preserves the Etruscan liver inside, a collection of ancient weapons in the early 19th century, a series of carriages donated in 1948 by Silvestro Brondelli di Brondello, the Farnese splendor, a series of works created to celebrate the Farnese family and of which only part of the cycle remains in Piacenza, the Risorgimento museum, the picture gallery, a series of sculptures and a collection of glass and ceramics.
