Cava Ranieri - Archaeological Park

Cava Ranieri is a vast archaeological site of global importance in Terzigno, a few kilometers away from the famous Pompeii. Located in the Vesuvius National Park, in a beautiful geological and naturalistic context, Cava Ranieri preserves the ruins of three Roman villas buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD.

Some of his finds and the frescoes in the villas are exhibited in the Territorial Archaeological Museum of Terzigno, the so-called "MATT". Abandoned for a long time and used as a landfill for a period, it was redeveloped thanks to local activists such as Francesco Servino.
