The project of the Antigone Library in Rome, has as its objectives the dissemination of LGBTIAQ + and feminist culture and subcultures, with particular interest in the production of texts, magazines, essays and novels concerning sexuality, gender and relations between genders, history and theoretical production of feminist and lgbtiaq + movements, education and the fight against discrimination, sexuality, emotional, sentimental and sexual relations and the academic productions of gender and queer studies.

A library that starting from the intersection of gender and queer studies can re-propose materials and tools useful for different approaches and different disciplines valid for discovering and deepening the breadth of such studies: psychology, sociology, anthropology, law, geography sexuality, medicine, postcolonial studies, literature, art and history are the main sectors for which the library project intends to offer a constant offer, not limiting itself to texts in Italian (original or translated) but aiming to import copies in Italian from abroad original, especially for those productions not yet translated by Italian publishing.

The Antigone bookshop wants to be a meeting point, a place for building relationships, intended as the only indispensable tool for the cultural and human growth of each / everyone, and to encourage this the commitment will be aimed at maintaining a safe, pleasant environment. , useful, accessible by anyone, to the constant updating and availability of texts concerning the specialization of the library and the organization of the presentation of books and / or artistic performances.

We believe that the dissemination of feminist, lgbt and queer themed literature is an indispensable element for building a culture of respect for minorities, women, sexualities, lesbian, gay, bisexual, intersex, asexual, transsexual, transgender, queer subjectivities. and binary non-compliant like that; respect understood not only as an antidote to discrimination, but as active participation, curiosity, questioning, capacity for comparison and inclusion.
