Manganer Event Space in Venice (Spazio Eventi Manganer) in Cannaregio, took its name from Calle del Manganer, a toponym that we still find in some streets of Venice, in Cannaregio, in the area of santi Apostoli, and in San Polo, near Ruga Rialto where a side street of calle S Matio is calle del Manganer.
At the time of the Serenissima the Manganeri were the artisans who finished the wool and silk fabrics to make the surface smooth.
The name derives from the tool they used, the mangle, a machine in the shape of a large wheel that was used precisely to give shine to the clothes.
The Space, while entering the offer of the city's exhibition locations, intends to establish a dialogue with all types of cultural initiatives, from the presentation of books to small musical performances and with particular attention to high-level Venetian craftsmanship.
