Michigan Central Station - Virtual Tour 360°

Central Michigan Station is an old train station in the city and is part of these abandoned places, it was built in 1913 and was an important railway hub until January 6, 1988, the day it closed.

The station was part of the great project to move goods on a railway track in place in those years, in fact, it was a station intended for the sorting of goods and not of people.

In 1913 a fire destroyed the old Detroit Central Station and the authorities were forced to route all the traffic to this huge station not yet completed and inaugurated for these needs; for this reason it was later destined to be the new headquarters of Detroit's rail traffic.

The station also boasts a record as it was the tallest railway station in the world.

This splendid building is located in the Corktown district and has as its "entrance corridor" the splendid Roosevelt Park which allowed the station to enter the register of the most important historical places in the United States back in 1975.
