The Captain's Inn

The owner of the Captain's Inn (Locanda del Capitano) is Giancarlo Polito, Umbrian chef and manager by adoption but of Salento origin.

Giuseppe Tornatore, Colin Farrell or Peter Gabriel passed through the Locanda.

Ten rooms in all and a luxury restaurant that offers traditional flavors and often combined with innovative cuisine.

Surrounded by greenery, oak and olive trees, the village of Montone suddenly appears to those who climb along the short bends: high, harmonious and austere. It is a unique medieval image, made up of historic houses, splendid churches and convents enclosed by the centuries-old walls of the village.

Walking in the quiet of the twisted and shady alleys, adorned with geraniums, you can hear only the singing of the swallows: a terrace overlooking indescribable panoramas, an atmosphere linked to the past, shy of the present. Montone is the homeland of Braccio Fortebracci, born of an ancient and noble local family.

The historic residence of the family, located in the heart of the village, is the current Locanda del Capitano.
