The Shard - Virtual Tour 360°

Tallest building in London, fifth tallest skyscraper in Europe, 67th architectural giant in the world. The Shard has been towering over the rainy skies of the English capital since 5 July 2012.

It is in fact at 32 London Bridge Street, in the Southwark district, that the RPBW Architects studio, directed by the Italian excellence Renzo Piano, decided to build this architectural colossus, 309.67 meters high and intended for mixed commercial and residential use.

The building rises for a total of 87 floors, of which 3 underground and 73 habitable, for a total of 111,000 square meters that can be walked on.

Overall, the pyramidal shape of the building appears decidedly slender and its tapered shape also has a precise function closely linked to the intended use of the building which has a purely multifunctional vocation, since it houses both commercial spaces, offices, private residences and complementary services such as restaurants, bars, a hotel and a private hospital clinic.

Its geometric irregularity is especially accentuated in the top section of the spire which strongly recalls the morphology of a shard of glass, hence the name SHARD.
