C-mine

C-mine are industrial buildings of a former coal mine in Winterslag, Belgium, converted into a cultural center.

You can enter the interactive sound cell. It produces the mining "sound" by operating levers, buttons and wheels.

Or get a feel for the atmosphere as you wander the maze to reach the top.

Literally the highlight of the expedition is the ascent of the "pit" tower which is a very high industrial archeology find located in the square.

It is more than 60 meters high and offers a magnificent view of the abundantly green landscape of Limburg.

C-mine also houses a design center, music room, restaurant, event hall, exhibition spaces and tourist facilities for the old mine site.

The complex houses up to 5,000 m2 of cultural infrastructure.

In the old T-shaped building, a new theater hall, a smaller music room, several exhibition spaces and structural functions (a.o. offices) are developed.

The new part fits perfectly into the functional and formal logic of the existing complex which has been completely restored.

The underground experience is a mile long adventure: where to hear and hear, see and experience! it is a stroll through the old tunnels, overcoming demanding installations, until you reach the top of the highest "pit" tower in Belgium.
