Turati Palace (Giureconsulti Palace) was built between 1873 and 1876 on behalf of Count Francesco Turati, an exponent of the nineteenth-century Lombard cotton industry.
The Neo-Renaissance style building is characterized by a linear and majestic external facade.
The building, at the behest of the brothers, was designed by the architect Enrico Combi taking inspiration from the Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara.
The façade, with a decidedly neo-Renaissance style, is therefore immediately recognizable by the particular diamond-shaped ashlar (imitating that of Biagio Rossetti in Ferrara in Palazzo dei Diamanti), which covers the entire building except for the serliana windows, the pilasters and balconies with large windows, again in serliana, crowned by a decorated pediment; inside there is a porticoed courtyard inspired by the forms of the Lombard Renaissance.
The interiors are very rich, of which the following should be noted: the "Sala di Flora", also known as the blue sitting room, upholstered in silk velvet, with mirrors, decorations and sculptures by Lodovico Pogliaghi, and frescoed by Mosè Bianchi.
The "Sala di Prometeo", so-called due to the large neo-Renaissance fireplace surmounted by the sculpture of Prometheus also by Pogliaghi.
The ballroom frescoed on the walls with "Il Ballo" by Giuseppe Bertini and, on the ceiling, by Luigi Cavenaghi.
The palace housed the headquarters of the Meneghina family, a famous Milanese private club, throughout the twentieth century.
In the basement of Palazzo Turati, at the city's Chamber of Commerce, the foundations of the Roman theater in Milan can be visited.
In 2016 the building was bought by an Azerbaijani fund, now a venue for events and exhibitions.
