Theater of the Arts

The Theater of the Arts is the dream that has come true for a handful of artists from Salerno who for years have been looking for a permanent home where to house their hopes, projects, ambitions, skills, their artistic and organizational values. Nobody would have given credit to a similar project, difficult for the realization, expensive for the economic commitment, tiring for the continuous and hard daily life to face.

A few jokes with the current mayor Hon. De Luca and the then mayor De Biase, and the space was entrusted after a regular request to the competent offices and to the council that governed the Municipality of Salerno, in the state in which it was located and without any financial commitment.

An appeal was received by the Province of Salerno which assumed the expenses for the purchase of the chairs and the preparation of the stage. The adventure began in April 2003. The structure was in a state of neglect, and still housed in the outer space a crane with a lot of rubble that had been abandoned for some time. The interiors were ravaged by occasional nocturnal guests who enjoyed raiding, for the sake of destroying.

It was necessary to redo everything, give it a new face, like a theater with the relative needs and security guarantees to host the activity and divide it from the neighboring judicial, school and municipal offices.

Robetta ..., in short, entrusted to the construction company of Franco Santoro made up of hard workers and friends who have made stone by stone everything that is visible today, directed by the architect Giuliano Papa.

The furnishings and the image were designed and edited by the interior designer Antonio Mainardi and by prof. Gelsomino D'ambrosio, the drawing that can be admired in the Foyer was painted by Pietro Lista. As we do not know, but certainly in February 2004, the Teatro delle Arti was inaugurated, in the presence of His Eminence Cardinal Martini, the then president of Rai Lucia Annunziata, Carlo Verdone and friends and supporters Vincenzo De Luca, Mario de Biase and Alfonso Andria and the many institutional and artistic authorities present.
