The Lanza Prince's Palace

The Lanza Prince's Palace, built at the end of the 18th century, represented the summer residence of the lords of Scalea, the Spinelli family who, in addition to being militarily famous, are also known for the literary works of Prince Francesco Maria Spinelli.

Despite being used for this purpose, the imposing structure does not lack architectural elements of great value, namely the entrance portal, dominated by a superb series of arches and the courtyard, ending with a staircase adorned with symmetrical elements.

The planimetric typology of the building follows a regular and symmetrical system, consisting of communicating rooms around an internal courtyard.

The palace was built mainly with rock stones from the same surrounding rocky terrain on the sea side, stones that were then modeled and placed according to their destination.
