The Etruscan necropolis of Monterozzi contains tombs whose wall paintings within them represent the most conspicuous pictorial nucleus of Etruscan art and at the same time the largest document of all ancient painting before the Roman imperial age.
Since July 2004, the Monterozzi necropolis, together with that of Cerveteri, has become part of the Unesco list of world heritage sites.
