Norsk Maritimt Museum - Virtual Tour 360°

The Norwegian Maritime Museum is a national museum of maritime heritage, full of experiences and activities. The Norwegian Maritime Museum was founded as the Norwegian Maritime Museum in 1914, received its current name in 2010 and has been a department of the Norwegian Folk Museum Foundation since 2015.

The museum collects, researches and disseminates knowledge of maritime heritage and coastal culture. Through exhibitions, events and other activities we are an arena of experiences.

The Norwegian Maritime Museum is also commissioned by the State Archaeological Museum, which is responsible for managing maritime heritage sites and other underwater cultural assets in the country's ten southernmost counties, both along the coast and inland.

The museum actively works with ship protection and offers a tour with both the 1916 Scandinavian swan and the Vaaghals Renaissance boat, a sailing replica or reconstruction of a wreck found by Bjørvika in Oslo. The museum also owns RS 1 Colin Archer and SY Venus, both designed by Colin Archer. We are in a beautiful maritime setting on Bygdøynes, together with our nearby museums Frammuseet and Kon-Tiki.
