Peer Gynt Sculpture Park

Peer Gynt Sculpture Park (Peer Gynt-parken) is a sculpture park located in Oslo, Norway. The sculpture park was created in honor of the man who is perhaps the most internationally known Norwegian writer, Henrik Ibsen and is a monumental presentation of one of his most famous works Peer Gynt, act by act.

The park was established in 2006 by Selvaag, the company behind the housing complex in the Løren area and most of the sculptures are the result of an international sculpture competition. Selvaag was founded by Olav Selvaag and is a family business that has been placing sculptures in residential areas for more than 50 years, over 500 sculptures in total.

There are more than 20 sculptures inspired by Ibsen's works in the Peer Gynt sculpture park. The sculptures were made by artists from all over the world.

The sculptures placed in Peer Gynt Sculpture Park come from an international open competition of designs for the best figurative sculptures depicting scenes from Henrik Ibsen's play Peer Gynt.

The host of the competition is Selvaag, the parent company of several subsidiaries. The members of the jury are: the director Ellen Horn of the Norwegian Riksteatret, the sculptor Kirsten Kokkin, the prof Vigdis Ystad of Senter for Ibsenstudier (The Center for Ibsen Studies), Kim Brandstrup of Galleri Brandstrup, Peder Lund of Lund Fine Art, the artist Kristian Blystad and Ole Gunnar Selvaag, one of the owners of Selvaags and founder of the Peer Gynt Sculpture park.

Park visitors can grab a snack at Kanon Bistro.
