Edvard Munch Museum - Winter Studio

Today the Winter Studio is rented to painters. It consists of the "small studio apartment" (40 sqm) and the "large studio apartment" (75 sqm). The graphic laboratory (30 m2) is located in the basement.

Edvard Munch's studio in Ekely is open during the summer season with exhibitions and guided tours organized by the Munch Museum.

Some of the artists who rent studios in the remaining winter months / months open to the public in the form of finissage at the end of the working period.

In 1916, Munch bought the 45-hectare Ekely property, where he lived for 28 years until his death on January 23, 1944.

Unfortunately, the Swiss villa was demolished in 1960. Only the atelier designed by Henrik Bull was left untouched.

Ekely is today a foundation that is rented as an artist's studio.
