The Viking Planet

Visit Norway's first digital museum offering several unique experiences based on Viking heritage, showcased through revolutionary virtual reality technology.

Norway's first Viking digital museum opened in Oslo in June 2019 with many unique experiences based on Viking heritage. This is the place to meet Vikings in Oslo.

The Viking Planet is a 1600 square meter digital museum located next to the Olso town hall. This is the first of many Viking planets to be launched in Norway and abroad in the years to come. A digital portal from the Viking era, The Viking Planet offers a variety of unique experiences based on Norway's Viking heritage, more than a thousand years ago.

With revolutionary virtual reality technology, you can now step back more than a thousand years to board a Viking ship and witness a hyper-realistic drama that takes place up close and personal in VR, more immersive than a 4D cinema. This is Oslo's digital Viking museum.

In collaboration with Ridley Scott production company RSA Films and Dimension Studios of the UK, The Viking Planet presents the world's first scripted drama produced using virtual reality of volumetric capture.

With a 270-degree cinema, The Viking Planet presents compelling Viking original content in a way never seen before. Through several interactive experiences, you can explore topics such as Ships and Navigation, Weapons and Warfare, Women in the Viking Age, and Religion and Mythology.
