Mmuseumm

Mmuseumm is a modern natural history museum located in lower Manhattan in New York City, dedicated to his typical curatorial style of "Object Journalism".

The Mmuseumm was founded by Alex Kalman and the Safdie brothers. Its top two locations are in Cortlandt Alley between Franklin Street and White Street, sometimes known as Mmuseumm Alley. Mmuseumm is dedicated to the care and display of contemporary artifacts to illustrate the modern world.

The first wing of the Mmuseumm, Mmuseumm 1, opened in 2012 in a former elevator shaft. The second wing, Mmuseumm 2, opened three doors below in 2015. The museum is accessible 24 hours a day through the peepholes of its door.

Since 2012, this truly hidden museum has been displaying what looks ordinary as well as extraordinary in a tiny abandoned Tribeca elevator shaft.

Oddities and bizarre items like a collection of cornflakes (yes, like in cereal) and "non-bombs" (items like a Taco Bell wrap and a dildo with an LED light that were once mistaken for bombs) are displayed on the glowing shelves.

The exhibits are eclectic to say the least, and the museum itself certainly leaves visitors with many questions, both in terms of their relationship to objects and the nature of art.
