Santo Ficara Gallery - Borghese Palace

Reproduced countless times in the advertising spaces of Art Diary of Flash Art, the Giornale dell'Arte or other large circulation magazines, the image of the gallery, with the large columns and cross vaults of the ceiling, has become customary even for those who maybe he hasn't set foot there.

A very suggestive space, on the ground floor of Palazzo Borghese, in the heart of ancient Florence.

A space with which many authors have measured and confronted themselves in setting up exhibitions designed specifically for this place.

After all, Santo Ficara has made the figure of his work from the direct relationship with artists and spaces for art since, at the end of the 1960s, he began, as an art connoisseur, to frequent artists such as Maccari o Drive.

The relationship with the artists intensified shortly afterwards thanks to another acquaintance, that with Luciano Pistoi, a mythical connoisseur and merchant who for all the 80s transformed Volpaia in Chianti into the venue of a sparkling autumn festival and, from 88 onwards , attempts to make Florence the home of a contemporary art exhibition of the highest quality and visibility: The Most Beautiful Gallery of Italy, directed, in recent editions, by Santo Ficara alone, who has collaborated with Pistoi from the beginning.
