Pizzo Colobria (951 m) is an isolated rocky relief; on its summit, archaeological traces of a 7th - 5th century BC settlement have been found. (Giordano 1997, p. 342), while at the foot (832 m) there is a splendid fortified farm with an adjoining external church.
In this totally depopulated agricultural landscape, the castle was built in the fourteenth century for the control and safety of the large estates. There are no obvious traces of the medieval castle in the current farm bounded by a wall against which the residential buildings and agricultural dependencies are attached.
Only a methodical study, with a survey of the building and stratigraphic analysis of the walls, will give the opportunity to trace any parts of the original medieval structure. Despite the architectural transformations, there is a continuity in the functions of the building between the Middle Ages and the modern era: a rural castle isolated in the fourteenth century, an isolated fortified farm in the sixteenth century.
