The City of Science is an area for the promotion and dissemination of science managed by the IDIS Foundation - City of Science and located in the Bagnoli district of Naples. The area is articulated in a multifunctional structure composed of an interactive scientific museum, a business incubator, a training centre, an educational garden and various other places.
The old Science Center was destroyed in a fire on March 4, 2013, but was reopened the following month with exhibitions in some spaces of the complex.
The reconstruction of the main building of the Science Center was scheduled for March 2018, but, following new agreements between the Government and the Municipality, it was decided to rebuild it on the mountain side, lengthening the times.
In the meantime, the structure is open to the public in the remaining sections, such as the one dedicated to the sea, insects and, since March 2017, Corporea (the museum of the human body) and the planetarium.
