Albertina Museum Palace

The Albertina is a building, partly usable as a museum, located in the historic center of Vienna.

It houses one of the largest collections of prints and drawings in the world.

It was erected on one of the last stretches of the ancient ramparts of the city left over from previous nineteenth-century demolitions, the so-called Augustinian bastions.

Part of the current site was previously occupied by the civil engineering offices (Hofbauamt), erected in the second half of the 17th century, already transformed, around 1745, into the city palace of a director of the Hofbauamt, a certain Count Silva-Tarouca.

It was therefore initially known as Palazzo Taroucca.
