The Venice Music Museum

The instruments present in this exhibition form the heart of a collection of masterpieces that belong to the past three centuries. The classical era of Italian violin making has given us the most celebrated, admired, preserved, and therefore imitated, production in the history of the manufacture of musical instruments. Although it is always a pleasure to admire and compare the most renowned luthiers, it is equally significant and no less fascinating to document and preserve the production of the students of these masters as well.
The collection housed in this museum covers a chronological span of about 300 years of Italian violin making and includes splendid specimens from the various regional schools.

At the end of the fifteenth century the church still had a basilica structure with three naves of clear Byzantine style, the result of an intervention made in the first half of the twelfth century.

In the Gothic period, other restoration and renovation works were certainly carried out. After many centuries of silence, the papers report that in 1580 the Church of San Maurizio was completely rebuilt and consecrated.

Thus the Interpreti Veneziani were born in 1987, immediately establishing themselves for "... the exuberance and the all-Italian panache that characterizes their performances".

A point of reference in the international music scene, Interpreti Veneziani are starting their XXXII Concert Season in Venice which sees the approval of more than 60,000 spectators a year from all over the world.
