The Castle of Quirra is a fortified building dating back to the 12th century located in the territory of the municipality of Villaputzu, in the Sarrabus, in the province of southern Sardinia. The castle, located at a height of 296 meters, offers a splendid view of the coast, but also of the valleys inland.
Built by the judges of Cagliari on the top of Mount Cudias to guard the border with the Giudicato of Gallura, it was occupied by the Aragonese in 1324. It was later the scene of clashes between the kingdom of Sardinia and the Giudicato of Arborea.
