Chiaramontano Castle of Naro

The Chiaramontano Castle of Naro in the Province of Agrigento is a fortress whose current configuration can be traced back to the Middle Ages by the main work of the Chiaramonte family.

It has been a national monument since 1912.

Although some historians attribute its original construction to the giant lotophagus first inhabitants of Sicily and others trace its origin back to the time of the Sicans.

The castle was heavily remodeled in the 14th century Chiaramonte era, although it certainly pre-existed the Arab conquest in 827.

The castle is currently open to the public and has the permanent exhibition of the "Vento di donne" period dress, a collection of clothes (mostly feminine) and accessories from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

It hosts events and exhibitions organized by local associations and entities.

The manor is also used to celebrate civil weddings.
