Ancient Tavern At the Botegon

From 1890 to today, the history of the Osteria Treviso Botegon

The Antica Osteria Treviso "Al Botegon" is an integral part of the city history of Treviso. The first Osteria in Treviso within its walls where the typical "shadows" have been served since 1890, when the "foreigners" who crossed the walls to trade their garments were welcomed in the heart of the livestock market.

The restaurant was known until the postwar period for being the only one in the city to serve "el Vin Santo" and "Marsala" directly from the barrels; barrels that among other things are still perfectly intact and visible behind the current counter. The tavern stands in the shadow of the imposing sixteenth-century door of "San Tomaso", the subject of a recent renovation that makes the atmosphere of the whole area very fascinating.

The Osteria Treviso Botegon today

The old counter and the typical Osteria Veneta atmosphere are the ingredients that make the "Botte" almost precious. With pride the managers will be able to let you taste the typical cicchetti from Hostaria Trevisana.

Antica Osteria Treviso al Botegon is the only Osteria in Treviso that proposes ancient recipes and hard to find specialties such as bogoi, nervetti, fried frogs and breaded and fried acacia flowers. Let us recommend the exceptional wines from Veneto, Trentino, Friuli and Piedmont to dine with tasty hand-made meatballs or delicious crostini with creamed cod, fried shrimp, octopus, scallops or other great classics of the typical Venetian cicchetteria.
