Scarzuola - Virtual Tour 360°

If you are in Umbria and have decided to spend a quiet weekend to get away from the chaos of the city and find some peace and harmony, you cannot miss La Scarzuola, a small masterpiece hidden in the woods of this beautiful region.

In the hamlet of Montegiove in the municipality of Montegabbione, in the province of Terni, there is, in fact, this little-known rural town that brings with it an artistic heritage to be discovered. Its name derives from the scarza, a marsh plant which, according to legend, St. Francis used to build a hut in 1218 where he had planted a rose and a laurel and from which a fountain had miraculously gushed out.

To introduce the Milanese architect and landscape architect Tomaso Buzzi to the two buildings of La Scarzuola, which later became his property. Around them he planned and built an "ideal city" to represent him.

From 1958 to 1978, in the park surrounding the convent, Buzzi gave life to the ideal city, that is a great theatrical scenography completed after his death by his nephew Marco Solari. What was called the stone anthology is made up of seven theaters and as many monuments.
