The Canussio Palace or Castle rises in Cividale del Friuli (Udine - Italy), along the line marked by the second city wall of the Roman and late ancient era. On the site there was the palace of the Canussio nobles (whose structure seems to date back to the late Middle Ages), lords who ceded the property to the Austrian barons Creigher in the nineteenth century. He transformed and expanded the building according to a particular eclectic neo-Gothic taste.
The very complex complex is characterized by the stratification of elements dating back to different historical eras and by the series of crenellated turrets of different heights.
The castle, during the recent restorations, was the subject of archaeological research which revealed the existence of interesting Roman, late antique and medieval structures.
