The Stone Castle of Vobbia

The Stone Castle of Vobbia (Or Castello da Pria in Genoese) is an ancient fortification located in the Ligurian municipality of Vobbia, located in the homonymous tributary valley of the Scrivia stream. It is the main and most characteristic monument of the Genoese hinterland, a cultural and landscape attraction pole of the Antola Regional Natural Park and included in the list of Italian national monuments.

Located in a picturesque elevated position between two spurs of rocky conglomerate which constitute its natural bastions, it dominates the road that runs alongside the Vobbia stream going up its course from Isola del Cantone. The castle can only be reached on foot via a path in the woods and a staircase, after a twenty minute suggestive walk starting from the provincial road. It is also possible to reach the site by following another, slightly longer route, which starts from the Torre di Vobbia hamlet, called Sentiero dei Castellani.

???????

Extraordinary work was carried out along the trail and to the structure in 2014, resulting in the site being temporarily closed to the public. It is also possible to visit the castle inside on public holidays from Easter Monday to the end of October; and, by agreement with the Antola Park Authority, for groups and groups, also on other weekdays.
