Civic Museum of Asolo

The current civic museum occupies the Palazzo del Vescovado and the building of the Loggia della Ragione; the latter was built during the fifteenth century to house the minor Venetian representations and the Podestà in his capacity as administrator of justice. The Loggia was frescoed around the middle of the 16th century.

The first nucleus of the museum collections was formed in the early nineteenth century thanks to donations from Domenico Manera and Giovan Battista Sartori Canova; but it is with the legacies of the heirs of Andrea Manera (1880) and Pacifico Scomazzetto (1888) that the Museum is officially established.

This first nucleus of artefacts is exhibited in the Sala della Ragione where the Town Hall is located at that time.

Since then, private donations have intensified, considerably increasing the institute's artistic and historical heritage.
