Caves of Pertosa - Auletta

The Pertosa-Auletta Caves are one of the focal geosites of the "Cilento" Geopark and have two uniqueness: they are the only caves in Italy where you can navigate an underground river, the Negro, and they are also the only ones in Europe to preserve the remains of a pile-dwelling village dating back to the 2nd millennium BC.

The visit to the tourist equipped caves (marked and comfortable routes) and illuminated by a latest generation system, turns into a pleasant adventure.

The river offers a fascinating and unusual boat trip, immersed in a magical silence, interrupted only by the roar of the downpours of the underground waterfall.

The walking route is about 1.5 km long, full of concretions shaped by nature over thousands of years.
