The Villa Velo Zabeo, in Velo d'Astico, is owned by the provincial administration of Vicenza. It is located in a position, from a landscape point of view, somewhat guessed as it is very close to the inhabited center and at the same time sufficiently isolated from it; perched on a panoramic plateau, it is surrounded by a rich park.
The origin of the villa is very remote: it was built by the Velo counts, a noble and powerful local family, near an ancient medieval fortress whose remains are still visible on a nearby hill.
The monumental complex was built, commissioned by Count Girolamo di Velo, in 1752. It is a set of artifacts, made up of three buildings which present diversified but coherent features and which constitute an exceptional architectural unicum, further enriched by a green apparatus of great effect: the historical garden and the secular park with the fishpond; the massive building of fifteenth-century origin; the long eighteenth-century wing leaning to the west with the Italian garden behind it; the colombara portico that ends the courtyard.
To these is added the noble chapel, placed before the entrance.
