Synagogue of Ancona

The Synagogue of Ancona, or rather the two Synagogues of Ancona, the Levantine one and the Italian one, are housed in a single building in the heart of the ancient ghetto.

Jewish history in Ancona begins before the year 1000; not only the ancient ghetto of the Astagno hill and the historic Campo degli Eesio testify to this, but also the history of the six synagogues that have followed one another over the centuries, three of the Levantine rite and three of the Italian rite.
