Pisa Synagogue

The Pisa Synagogue is a Jewish house of worship located at 24 Via Palestro. It dates back to the early 17th century, but was first transformed in 1785 and entirely renovated in 1863 by Marco Treves. On that occasion the facade was redone, with a central portal, round-headed windows, oval eyes and triangular tympanum.

The interior was also largely redone while maintaining the same division of space. It is a large square hall with a women's gallery on a projecting gallery at the entrance and walls decorated with stucco.

The teva is of wood with turned baluster railings while the "Aròn ha-Kodesh" is of marble flanked by pairs of columns with Corinthian capitals and a triangular tympanum.
