Jewish Museum of Bologna - Diaolini Palace


Diaolini Palace is a Renaissance-style building located in Bologna, owned by the municipality, since 1999 it has housed the Jewish Museum of Bologna.

A palace had been built in the palace by the bread merchant, Francesco Diaolini. In his 1595 testament, he left the property to create a school for poor children, with the intention of studying trade as merchants.

In 1619 the Diaper College was created. The college was closed in 1765 by Pope Benedict XIV and the site was transferred to the Academy of Sciences.

The Malvasia family acquired the structure and merged it with the adjacent Palazzo Mavasia.

The museum includes part of the Malvasia Palace.
