CulturalHeritageOnline: Jewish Padua Museum

Jewish Padua Museum

The museum is located in the former German synagogue building, in the area of the historic center known as the Ghetto.

Erected from the year 1522, it was set on fire and destroyed in May 1943 during the war.

It remained for a very long time a ruin with silent city testimony of the capacity of evil, its restructuring was undertaken by the Jewish Community with reduced contributions from the Region and the Municipality of Padua.

The philological restoration carried out has given back a space of great charm, supported above all by the imprint of the matronei (now closed) and by the nineteenth-century access staircase.
