The Jewish Museum of Venice is a widespread museum or an architectural and museum urban complex that includes exhibition spaces and synagogues present inside and outside the museum itself.
The Ghetto was the district of Venice where Jews were forced to reside during the period of the Republic of Venice.
It is located in the heart of the Cannaregio district and is accessed from the Campo del Ghetto Novo, in the corner between the two oldest synagogues in Venice.
Established in 1954 by the Jewish Community of Venice, since 1990 it has been regularly open to the public with guided tours, permanent and temporary exhibitions.
The museum's permanent collection includes ritual and household objects linked to Jewish holidays, decorative fabrics from the Torah and the synagogue. a collection of ketubboth (marriage contracts), a collection of ancient books including one of the first Talmud printed by Daniel Bomberg in 1500.
