Church of Sant'Angelo in Pescheria

The Church of Sant'Angelo in Pescheria is a Catholic place of worship in Rome, located in the Sant'Angelo district.

Built in the 8th century, this church owes its name "in fish market" to the fact that in its vicinity there was the fish market which took place in the nearby Portico d'Ottavia.

Pope Stephen II moved here, in 752, the relics of Santa Sinforosa, San Getulio and their seven children.

In 1610 the sarcophagus was found, bearing the inscription: Hic requiescunt corpora SS. Martyrum Simforosae, viri sui Zotico (Getulii) et Filiorum ejus to Stephano Papa translated.
