Pigna district

Pigna is the ninth district of Rome, indicated with R. IX. It takes its name from a bronze statue of a large pine cone, originally placed at the Baths of Agrippa.

The district is located within the Aurelian Walls, in the area of Rome formerly called Campus Martius in the VII Augustan regio. It has an almost square shape. It is bordered by the Pantheon, Largo di Torre Argentina, via delle Botteghe Oscure and Piazza Venezia.

One life is not enough to get to know Rome, and perhaps at least two would be needed to visit it properly. A city so rich in history (and stories), art, beautiful buildings and marvelous corners must be approached little by little, so as to be able to dwell on otherwise fleeting details. If for other cities the subdivision of tourist visits based on areas and neighborhoods works, for Rome there is a need to even divide the itineraries into blocks. Especially if - as in the mini itinerary to visit the Pigna district that I share in this post, it is an area of the city so full of places of interest that even making a selection becomes complicated.
