The Diocesan Museum of Alba foundation, from the City Council and the Residence, together with the associations Colline e culture and Turismo in Langa, do their best to give rise to this event, but there is a response to it from the public and the town itself, as well as from the art world.
The project, supported by the Crc foundation, the Residenza and the municipality, aims to recreate in Rodello the environment that saw Don Mario Battaglino in the 1960s promote the experimental seminar to which the then young artists Piero Ruggeri, Giorgio Ramella, Bruno Sandri, Beppe Morino -- just to name a few -- joined under the guidance of Enrico Paulucci.
The request was for an engagement on the theme of religious art with contemporary techniques and style. The group of works then produced remained in the church of the Immaculata and formed the first nucleus of the religious art museum. It was in that context that Dedalo Montali and Don Battaglino met in Turin in 1969,committed to founding La Residenza a nursing home, and looking for an artist to illustrate its chapel, according to the new conciliar instances.
The "Dedalo Montali" Museum of Modern and Religious Art is an original and entirely new museum in the local and national art scene. It is housed in the halls of the Church of the Immaculate Conception and at "La Residenza": two sites, a single presentation of many pictorial and sculptural works brought together by the wish of Dedalo Montali, at the initiative of his widow Taja Satta Montali and Can. Mario Battaglino. The works of Montali (Cagliari July 10, 1909-Rodello Feb. 13, 2001), divided into chronological and thematic periods, from pre-war to the end of the century, recount his art as a painter, sculptor and poet, and his personality so significant that he became a qualified witness of his time, the 1900s.
